About Routine Map
Routine Map is run by an independent beauty and cosmetics enthusiast. We publish calm, step-by-step guides for starting retinol and for sorting a shelf you already own.
We are not a clinic, a pharmacy, or a dermatology practice. The guides are educational. They set cautious defaults, link the sources, and say when to ask a pharmacist or a doctor.
The method
Every Routine Map guide uses the same five labels.
- Hard stop. Don't combine a cosmetic retinol with a prescription retinoid. Ask your prescriber.
- Label first. The product label or your prescriber leads.
- Irritation stack. Keep exfoliants off retinol nights. Pause them for the first 8 weeks of retinol.
- Order & overlap. Vitamin C in the morning, retinol at night. Don't run two products that do the same job.
- Unknown: test alone. Introduce an unknown product alone, on a rest night, after a small-area test.
How we check facts
Regulators first (EU, UK, US), then dermatology organisations, then peer-reviewed studies. Every guide lists its sources with links and the date we checked them. We do not present that as a clinical review.
What we'll never do
Score your products. Rank brands for money. Diagnose. Tell you to ignore your prescriber. Publish fake reviews.
